You might be aware that I am currently looking for work. Since I am in that mode I thought I’d share some thoughts on the popular LinkedIn social network for professionals.
First of all, I am sure that I am just scraping the surface as to what LinkedIn has to offer; if there’s more than what I’ve seen so far, I’ll follow up with info, but for the most part LinkedIn is similar to many other social networks out there… just without the constant chatter. It seems as though LinkedIn is more about signal than noise, where as other popular networks are just the opposite. This is a good thing, it being aimed at professionals, for whom the majority of its active user-base would be people looking for work; if there were too much noise it would just be irritating, and people are usually already over-stressed when they find themselves out of work, they don’t want to be sifting through crap to get some serious work done.
