Marvel/Disney? Just wow…

All I wanna know is - did Stan get the cash he deserved?!News yesterday was a little more than surprising to me; Disney bought Marvel (Comics) for something like $4 bazillion bucks!

It really floored me. I’m no longer an avid comic book reader, but Marvel was my universe of choice growing up. To find out that all of the Marvel properties and franchises will now be controlled by the same people that brought you Snow White, Mary Poppins, and Goofy … well, is baffles the mind.

I can see the day where Peter Parker and Troy Bolton are roommates in college, or catching a cameo of Scrooge McDuck dropping by Tony Stark’s mansion to work out a deal to keep Huey, Dewey, and Louis out of his hair.

I saw some pretty creative comments, most of which were not unlike my attempt at humour in the above paragraph, here’s some examples of the funnies other people tried to make en lieu of this strange news:

Kotaku: The Disney Marvel Team-Ups We’d Like To See

@bonniegrrl: Can I have dibs on writing the Deadpool vs. Goofy comic? #marvel #disney

@Leon413: “Beauty and The Hulk” “Sleeping Spiderman” “The Fantastic Seven Dwarves” @raistlinsghost #Disney #Marvel

Jason Toney: Chris Ullrich wins for pointing me to these comedic Disney/Marvel titles: “Herb-E”, “Deadpooh” and “Finding Namor”.

Yeah - seems like that’s the joke of the day, really - Disney/Marvel mashups. It is pretty funny, but then again - Pixar’s done okay under Disney’s roof, perhaps Marvel will also do well there. All I can do is hope that everything works out and that the Marvel Universe does not get totally trounced by meddling through their new parents at Disney.
