By now you ought to know who Felicia Day is. I don’t know how you couldn’t, really, she’s been everywhere this year. Well, this past weekend was her birthday and, as fans, a bunch of us internet folk uploaded videos of varying length, which were edited together into a birthday present for her.
She posted about the video on her personal blog, and you’ll see my dorky-mug at the 3:14 mark. I think I have the shortest recording of them all, but that’s my fault. I wish I was more comfortable and creative in front of the camera.
It took me no less than 45 tries to just say the short little bit that I managed - and for anyone out there that actually knows me, if there’s anything I am good at it’s talking, so I was surprised that I just froze in front of the camera, clueless as to what I should say. I have to give props to Dani Figueiredo for planning and executing the Happy Birthday video montage, she didn’t make me look half as dorky as I felt.
Yes yes, I’ll get to my dorky appearance in a second… but this post is not about me, remember?
I’ve written up a fair deal about Ms. Day this past year - seems she’s been having quite the year while we were busy getting our first year under our belts here at Always Go Right. A quick search here on AGR will show that I’ve written my fair share of posts about her this year, and somehow I doubt that trend will wane in the year to come.
For those of you that don’t follow her every move, here is a quick recap of some of the better-known things this woman has done this past year, here’s a quick recap:

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog
Seriously, if you don’t know about this one… just find a way to watch it. You can get it almost anywhere these days, be it iTunes, on Amazon.com, Blockbuster, NetFlix, I don’t care - just get it and watch it. You’ll love it!

House - Not Cancer
This was a good deal of fun to see Felicia on television again. In this Season 5 episode of House, Felicia plays a woman named Apple, and she becomes House’s patient-du-jour. It’s a great episode, and a treat to have her in it.

The Guild Season 2
Who didn’t love the first season of The Guild? Well, Felicia followed up her first season with a bigger budget, more actors, and along with it came sponsors and the ability to get out there and do her thing. Season 2 did not disappoint, and now we’re all waiting to see how things turn out for the guildies in it’s third season later this year.

The Legend of Neil
I don’t know if everyone out there caught The Legend of Neil - it’s the creation of Sandeep Parikh and Tony Janning. If you recognize the name Sandeep, it’s likely because he plays Zaboo in Felicia’s series The Guild. Well, in Sandeep’s hilarious series The Legend of Neil, Felicia plays the role of a fairy - and she’s really funny.
The Legend of Neil got me some great laughs, so if you missed this series’ first season, you really should check it out.

Dollhouse - Epitaph One
Dollhouse? Yeah - I really enjoy this series. But did you know that there was an un-aired episode that features none other than Felicia Day? Yeap! S’true!
And the episode, called Epitaph One, will be on the first season DVD later this month. You can pre-order the season on Amazon.com, it’ll be worth the price of the series alone just to see Felicia in the very polished world of Dollhouse.
I’ve been avoiding spoilers so far, so I know very little about her role in the episode… but I am really looking forward to seeing it when it does come out!

The Guild Season 3
With the success Felicia has had this past year, we’re all rooting for her this year. With season 3 of The Guild now filming fans are excited to see the return of the guildies to their computer screens.
Felicia’s been doing great, she’s managed to make her own series and get a great fan following, she’s appeared in A-title shows on TV, she’s made appearances in other television series, she is always popping up at different conventions, meeting up with other movie stars, internet icons, and yet she still finds time to geek it up with her people, folks like you and I.
I’ve seen her pop into The Guild’s community site and just gab away with fans hanging out in the chatroom. You’ll see her tweeting during the day, and commenting on conversations on FriendFeed - and this is why she’s so popular, she makes herself accessible to her fans, takes the time to show her appreciation for them, and that goes a long way with fans.
… but if you know who she is, you likely already know all of that.
Okay, that video I promised, yeah. Need I remind you that I felt extremely dorky in front of that camera? Look for me, try and pay attention, it’s a short clip… try not to be disappointed:
Thanks for the hard work Felicia, I hope the upcoming year is as crazy-fun for you as this past year has been for us fans!

Great post, Kar!
One little correction though… she wasn’t the one who posted the video on her blog. We (well, Edgar) hijacked the blog to post it. Unless you meant that she commented there…
And yuo did great in the video! =]
Celebrity worship may be the one thing I will never understand.
Thx Dani - I know Edgar does that - but I’d not noticed it was him that published the video.
Thx again for putting it together!
@Tipa - Hmmm, not sure if this falls under celebrity worship here. While I do think Felicia Day is one cool gal, worship is not how I would categorize it - at least not for me.
I will admit that I do feel that she, as a person, is doing a helluvalotta good for the internet world of entertainment. She’s one of the names out there putting in the hard work, doing what she wants and keeping it hers… and finding a following and a market for her work.
She’s had a fantastic year, and I admire the work she does.
@Tipa - I think “celebrity worship” and admiration for someone (famous or not) is very different. We, well I… I don’t “worship” Felicia cause she’s famous (and that’s what “celebrity worship” means to me), I admire her (a LOT) cause of the great work she does, and mostly for being so fraking cool. I admire her cause she is (I don’t “know” her, but that’s what I can tell from following her) a very very very nice person, down to earth, charismatic, and that works very hard to improve each day. And she does all that and still takes hours of her time to keep in touch with the fans.
If that means worship… well, maybe I do worship her. Don’t see the bad thing in it though.
Well put Dani - it’s more admiration, for me.
