Sometimes you go online to check one little thing out…and then you follow one tangent after another until it’s three hours later. As I’ve mentioned, I’ve become something of a Doctor Who fan. I was thinking about how original and unmistakable the theme song is, and, since the show has been around forever – I wanted to find the very first theme song…the original song played when the show launched. It wasn’t hard to find - a simple YouTube search gave me this video:

I was amazed at how fantastic it was, and how modern sounding it was for a song recorded in 1963. I wanted more information – and that’s how I “met” Delia Derbyshire. And once I did, I couldn’t stop reading about the amazing story of this amazing woman, who is, without a doubt, a true pioneer of electronic music.
