When something new is coming out on DVD or Blu-Ray, I have this habit of going to Amazon.com and just ordering it there, even though I happen to live in Canada.
We have Amazon.ca here in Canada, and we usually get the same releases at the same time as the American branch of Amazon, but sadly they are usually sold at a higher price point. So over the years a habit has formed, if I would rather get the item for a cheaper price I get it from Amazon.com.
Which is exactly what I did again when it came to ordering Dollhouse’s first season on Blu-Ray - it comes out July 28th, and I’ve been looking forward to getting it.
When it came time to free up some space to record other shows on the PVR I had to order the Blu-Ray of the series… I don’t know why, but deleting the only copy of Dollhouse I had before I had the physical product in-hand was hard, and the only way to alleviate that was to go on Amazon and just order it. So that’s what I did, I instinctively ordered it on the American website, as usual.
But this weekend I had a bit of a surprise - I noticed on Whedonesque that there was a serious discount on the Blu-Ray release of Dollhouse on Amazon.ca. The price was so low I seriously thought it must be some mistake, and that by the time I got to the checkout to pay for it I’d see the usual $60+ price tag in my shopping cart.
I popped onto Amazon.ca and checked it out - I selected and added it to my cart, walked all the way through the clicky-clickies, and as advertised the price came up at $23.95 - seriously, the Blu-Ray release of Dollhouse is being sold for less than the DVD release.
