Back in the day, towards the end of my run at my old blog, Aggro Me, I was invited to write a humor column to be featured on the back page of each issue of Equinox magazine. Aggro Me was a blog that was mostly focused on Everquest II. I did a lot more ranting and raving on that site than this one but I also did a humor piece each Friday with the “clever” name, “Friday Humor.” You can check some out here if you’re curious, but they are all EQII related. I still don’t know how I got so many humor posts out of one MMORPG.
Anyway, Equinox was launched as the “official Everquest II magazine” and they asked me to write a humor column similar to the Friday Humor pieces. I was leery about doing it because it was an official magazine and I didn’t want to seem biased or lose my edge in my anti-SOE rants (there were plenty of complimentary posts too). But since I wasn’t getting paid in any way I figured it was okay. Also, I dealt only with the publishing company (MMM Publishing) and not SOE. It was fun and the magazine looked really professional. They did a great job laying out my column on the last page and there was even a picture of my wacky EQII character. So the first two columns I did were published. I banged out a third but I never saw the third issue of Equinox come out. Hey, I killed the magazine!
Well, it turns out the sales were just too low and SOE decided to pull the ol’ plug on Equinox. I totally forgot about the whole thing until this week when I was showing off my sexy printed columns in the first two issues to a friend. So I emailed the editor, got the scoop and got the okay to go ahead and post my third article. The theme of the third issue of the magazine was going to be “Healers,” so I played off that in my column. It’s really dated and it’s EQII focused but I figured it might be fun to post. And so I present the “Lost” Aggro Me Equinox article!
