Yesterday I spent some time goofing off superhero-style with my 3½ year old son. We’d gone to a super-hero themed birthday party on Saturday, and all-day Sunday he was asking to do Superhero related activities; he was still riding on a birthday party high.
So I did what any responsible and considerate parent would do and turned to YouTube!
I was curious as to how many of my PBS memories were stored in the tubes, and without hesitation typed in “spider-man” and “electric company” and was pleased to find a good number of positive hits.
Now, I am sure some of you out there are a little younger than I am… but know this, The Electric Company was damned cool in my youth, and when they introduced Spider-Man to the show I can remember being flabbergasted. Suuuure, I was young, but it is one of those early childhood memories that I have managed to retain. I actually remember that sequence, where “Easy Reader” (a very young Morgan Freeman) updated the world that Spider-Man would be coming to the show.
