Today I have a side-kick watching over me as I write - her name is Mo… short for “Mohawk” Maureen.
Mo’s an old lady that lives in a purple house. I can only hazard a guess as to how old she is, but lets just keep things polite and stick with “old” - I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.
Usually you’d find Mo upstairs at our place, often hanging out in the kitchen - she likes it there; it is so much closer to the food.
Well today she’s been moved to the basement. You see… we’re trying to sell our house, and our real estate agent recommended that we keep Mo downstairs. At first I thought she’d miss being upstairs, but it turns out she’s perfectly happy to hang out here in the computer room - she’s been milling around all day, keeping to herself, and so far she’s not been much of a bother.
To be perfectly honest, I am rather enjoying her company. Every now and then I see her taking a drink, or sneaking a snack… it is kinda nice having her around. Perhaps when we move I’ll see how she feels about living upstairs with us again, but for now I think I’ll keep her down here.
So yeah - I guess Mo will get to see all the behind-the-scenes excitement that goes into writing, I just hope she likes the links I’ve got for everyone this week:

- Urban Medium: Vader Helmet
- Game: Cargo Bridge

Commercial for Super Mario & Zelda Cereal
Oh wow. Just wow.
I don’t even remember this cereal - do you? After seeing this commercial, I am not even sure I would have thought the cereal looked cool and asked my parents to buy it.
I mean, I guess it’s cool - it’s got both old-school Mario and Link, in the same box. I’m going to guess they were just generic sugar-bombs too. And the shapes are pretty damn lame.
Heh, too funny, I don’t think I would have been psyched to buy these as a kid, or now - I bet Mo would eat them, without milk, for a snack though… she’s always eating.
Urban Medium: Vader Helmet
Now this is pretty damn cool - it’s a rendition of Vader’s helmet, but if you look at it closely it has rebellion and Empire symbols all over it, there are some Storm Trooper decals, and all sorts of other gems hidden in there.
This helmet seriously reminds me of those cool Vader helmets from The Vader Project a while back. If you’ve never seen The Vader project, you should check it out - it’s very cool too. There were 66 helmets provided to artists to use as a blank canvas to do with as they pleased. The works of art were put on display, and the results were fantastic.
Game: Cargo Bridge
I played this game most evenings this past week. If I was not cleaning/decluttering/painting/freaking-out, I was probably playing Cargo Bridge.
It’s a very simple game, and to be honest it’s a little on the easy side at first, but it does get harder when you get more materials to work with. I have had just as much fun making super solid over-designed bridges as I have making flimsy ones to see how minimalistic in materials I can go, which is what the whole goal of the game is, really: make a bridge as cheaply as possible.
Lots of good fun, I love watching the workers fall to their doom!
Ravage Transforming USB Flash Drive
I had been talking about Transformer USB sticks just a couple months ago… and voila! Now they exist! Pretty amazing how that happens sometimes: you think of something, say “someone should make that”, and suddenly it is as though someone heard you and listened!
I love it too - this Transformer is pretty much exactly what I had envisioned - one mode would be a beast/car/whatever, and the other would be a simple USB stick. Very cool!
R2-D2 Water Bottle
I don’t know what I like more, the R2-D2 water bottle, or the website’s overuse of lens-flares! Soooo awesome! It’s so colorful and shiny!
Actually, I wonder if Mo would like an R2-D2 water bottle… hers is kinda looking ratty these days. Maybe I’ll get it for her birthday?
Retro Mini Handheld NES System
This is nothing too earth shattering, but I love that it’s portable yet still uses the original cartridges. It looks so ridiculous! Bonus points goes out to them having Galaga in the console!
I wonder what old NES games go for these days - looks as though prices are not too crazy, between $5 and $15 for most titles. I think I’ll stick with my DS games though… but hot damn, it’d be cool to whip out the Retro Mini and play some Dr. Mario! I’d be the coolest guy on the bus!
