Look - I don’t have a fancy intro today. Sorry to disappoint.
I could talk about the fact that last weekend I had a very small role in a zombie movie-short as Zombie#10. While it was a heckuvalotta fun, that’s not what I want to talk about right now.
What I want to talk about are your eyeballs, the television in your house, and Amazon.com.
Why the hell would I want to talk about that? I need your help… well, I actually need your eyeballs.
Tonight is the airing of the Dollhouse Season Finale on Fox. Last I heard it could go either way for this show getting renewed. I still have hope that tonight’s episode will not be the last of the series (yes yes, I know about the whole episode 13 fiasco). The show has gone from great to fantastic… and last week’s episode was simply Epic - I cannot see how Fox would want to kill the show.
I am not sure what time Dollhouse airs on Fox where you are, but it airs 9PM EST on Fox. Hell, I have no idea if Canadian eyeballs will even count, but I want to make my voice heard that I really want a second season to this amazing series. There’s so much more story to be told, the world that’s been created is finally starting to reveal just how rich it is… it can’t possibly be the end now.
So please watch Dollhouse tonight. If you’ve been curious about it, but avoided it because of the hype, please do me a favour and tune in for this last episode. Just humour me and watch it. And if you can’t do me that little favour, please PVR it and make a mental note to watch it later.
And for those of you out there that love the show, you can pre-order the series on Amazon now:
Pre-orders for the series might just give Fox a heads-up of the interest levels for this series. If you hang out on Twitter, it’s hard to not see the Dollhouse fans out there. People are begging for a second season.
Well - enough of me campaigning for Dollhouse. Once I scraped the latex zombie flesh off my face last weekend, I did have a chance to check out life online. Here’s what grabbed my attention enough to get plugged on my tumblog this past week:
- Papercraft Buffy the Vampire Slayer
- May the 4th be With You… Always
- Amber Benson’s Macarena - As Promised
- SABER Mock-Commercial
- Lego Sunglasses
Papercraft Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Zombies love papercraft. Zombies might suck at making papercraft figures and objects on their own, but they love the whole freaking idea of papercraft.
This one is right up their alley too, it’s features Buffy Summers, and zombies love Buffy! She’s usually too busy with the bigger and badder Big Bads in Sunnydale to worry about the little guys… so zombies don’t have to fear her that much.
And that’s a pretty sweet model. What baffles me is not just that the model for this papercraft project was based on a computer model this Ninjatoes fella made… but Mr. Toes goes on to mention that some papercraft models are based on models found in video games:
Many popular games have fan made model viewers that often have an “extract” feature. Some emulators (especially those for the N64) have plugins to extract the 3D models from the screen. 3D Ripper DX is also able to extract the 3D data from various games and model viewers.
- Ninjatoes
Wow, that’s pretty freakin’ cool. Zombies would never have come up with that idea. I guess it makes some sense though, they are hollow 3D models with a paper-like skin applied to the polygons. It is pretty much a perfect marriage.
And I bet the people that came up with that idea have some mighty tasty brains!
May the 4th be With You… Always
What can I say - Zombies around the world love everything Star Wars. Can you imagine a world where zombies and Star Wars co-existed? Who cares how many Jedi or Sith are flashing their fancy coloured-light sabers around, as long as tasty limbs are hewn from victim’s torsos, we zombies have an abundance of tasty snacks, or spare parts. It’d pretty much be a perfect universe if that ever came to be.
Well, this past Monday was Star Wars Day - Every May the 4th, Star Wars fans around the globe party it up and pass along the cheesy quote: “May the 4th be with you!” Mark it in your calendars for next year, it’s always a good time!
Amber Benson’s Macarena - As Promised
How cool is Amber Benson? Seriously, she’s a geek’s dream! She’s the same woman that played Tara in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but these days we zombies know her for her page-turner novel Death’s Daughter!
Soon after the book was released she promised her fans that if they wrote 85 reviews of her book that she would dance the Macarena for them. Well… Amber got her reviews, and the fans got to watch Amber perform! And in true performer style, Amber doesn’t simply dance to the music playing in the background - oh no, she gets a live band to play and she sings and dances! Woooo!
Amber’s got style folks, and her fans eat it up. She’s puuuure genius - and this Zombie approves!
SABER Mock-Commercial
This commercial made me laugh. While it was predictable as to what was going to happen once the lightsabers appeared, the look on the guy’s face was brilliant. He alone makes this video so damned funny.
I will give it to the ladies though, they we’re really getting into the saber-wielding action - but they were not what made the video so funny. The fact that it was a commercial parodying the Axe commercials was chuckle-worthy too, but that guy’s face was priceless.
Lego Sunglasses
Now here’s what I’ve got to say about this one. Sure, they look pretty plain and simple… but think about it - you are not limited to only using the blocks that are shown in the picture!
You could make a whole helmet! Hell, my zombie friends have all ordered a pair so they can hide their grotesque visages and finally get in some night-clubbing action. You could make all sorts of whacked out ideas, it’s freakin’ Lego!
And besides, I’ll be able to snap my Lego cutlery to my Lego glasses now - I’ll never be without a spoon for those end-of-week brain-feeds… I hate it when I forget my spoon!
About that Zombie Movie
Well - I can’t say too much right now, except that I was in the movie … but it’s only a few seconds max. I knew it’d be a very small part, but I would be crazy to turn down a part in a zombie flick!
Once I have more information I will most positively update everyone with news, information, pictures, etc.
For now, just know that I am Zombie #10… and that he is awesome.
Have a great weekend folks, and don’t forget to watch Dollhouse tonight!

My wife and I have really enjoyed Dollhouse this season. It started off weak, but the last several weeks have been excellent. I really hope they bring it back.
Our running joke with the show is “Lets see who takes their shirt off this week”!
I’ve been totally enjoying Dollhouse. I read today that Eliza mentioned Fox and Joss were talking about what a Season 2 of the series would be like - which makes me hopeful for it getting picked up. I hope it pans out, this series has “Winner” stamped all over itself if you ask me!
Yeah, Dollhouse started off a bit on the slow side, but with such a high concept, it pretty much had to. The last three episodes aired were GOLD (10 and 11 especially), but i have to say, there’s no WAY I am picking up the DVD if FOX nixes this — I’m sick and tired of giving them my money when they pull crap like this. I’ll watch that 13th ep elsewhere, you jerks.
I agree 100% - for a show like Dollhouse, for more people you need to ease into the ideas, build up the rules of the universe you are creating so that the viewing audience gets a feel for how things work… and then you tear the walls down and let the fit hit the shan.
That’s pretty much what Joss did with this series, and this is what I expected, to be honest.
I’d mentioned a while back, in preparation for Dollhouse to start, that I re-watched the series openers of his other television series to see and remind myself of the types of starts they had - except for Firefly, which he went it with guns-a-blazing, Whedon shows start out pretty slow and when open up on the throttle as they near the end of season - and this is just what happened with Dollhouse.
For me, Dollhouse did not disappoint at all.
I am so glad that it looks as though it’s getting a second season with 13 episodes:

Sadly it looks as though Glau’s Terminator has been cancelled ( http://tvbythenumbers.com/2009/05/17/terminator-the-sarah-connor-chronicles-canceled/18840 ), but perhaps Whedon will reel her in as a new Doll in season 2 of DH?
That… would be… Fan-tas-tic!
