Tumbling Down The Rabbit Hole

Looks like my A.D.D. got the best of me this week. I do what I can to keep it under control, but this week I’ve just been a total scatter brain.

Some weeks are just like that; my attention span is short. I end up CTRL-Tabbing in my browser faster than the refresh rate on my monitor. This really makes it hard to keep a single train of thought, but as I say to my therapist “why even bother to try and do that”?

Animator vs Animation

I checked out this short animation earlier this week, and while I was not totally stupid-crazy about it at first… I thought it was very cool once I played the game based on the original animation!

After messing around with it quite a bit, I was able to figure out how to slap the guy around a little, and rack up a decent amount of points… but I was not able to cause nearly as much chaos and mayhem as depicted in the animation itself. Maybe I just suck at it? I’ll have to try and improve my game!

Watchmen - Teaser Trailer (Motion Comic Version)

I’ve linked to quite a few other Watchmen bits of fun online lately, but I am starting to fear the hype and have already dove into the whole I’m Gonna Be Disappointed When I See The Movie mode.

But, ignoring that bad feeling I am getting… this movie trailer is a pretty damned cool.

What we have here is the movie trailer most of us have already seen, but it’s been redone using only the original book’s artwork. They’ve chopped up the book to animate some of the characters to give it some motion, and they’ve done a really good job of presenting the movie’s trailer using only the comic book. I’ve yet to try and watch both trailers side by side to see how close the two actually are, but even if they are not all that close, they do manage to carry out a damned cool trailer.

I guess what this trailer really does succeed in pulling off is increasing my urge to break out the actual book again… even if it doesn’t ease my fears that this movie is going to bomb.

AT-AT Boom Box Walker

I don’t know why… but I can just imagine myself walking around town with this black beast hoisted up and onto my shoulder blasting passers-by with:

“Intergalactic, Planetary
Planetary, Intergalactic!

Pretty bad-ass, no? I think Vader could actually recoup some of his street cred if he got himself one of these to strut around the old D-Star with. He’d def have all the protocol droids doin’ the robot.

Game: Cursor * 10

This game… this game defines true madness.

Just go ahead and try it. Try to figure out what the heck is actually going on before the 4th cursor.

This is one of those games that’s very easy to pick up and mess around with, but damned-near impossible to be great at. It requires some pretty good strategy to beat the game… either that or I’m just plain dumb, because I cannot reach the 16th floor despite my best of plans and efforts!

Godhead - The Hero Music Video

Maybe it is a sign that I am getting old, but I don’t really know Godhead as a band. They’ve been around a while, from what I’ve gathered. This new song/video of theirs is a pretty solid tune too - catchy. I like it.

Watch the video, it’s rather unique. It’s sort of an interpretive-dance piece, really I dunno why, but I really got into it.

Wait… wait… wait! Is that freakin’ Juliet Landau? Holy Frak! It is! What!?

Juilet directed and appears in this video! Wow, so we go from a pretty good tune and well made video to something made by Juilet?!

All fun aside, this is a really good tune, and very very cool video… and Juilet being involved in the making of and starring in the music video just makes it that much cooler!

Wow, is there nothing people from the Whedonverse don’t do?

Optimus Prime - Change

OK - this one just made me laugh. It’s a “Change” poster, a-la Obama style… but it still makes me laugh.

Pardon me as a giggle like a school girl.

100% Digital Pinball Machine

This is a very cool concept pinball machine. From the video it appears to be a fully playable 100% digital pinball machine.

As seen in the video, this is a large flatscreen TV laying down flat on a table, and a regular PC monitor butted up against it for the score display screen to emulate a pinball machine. There are 13 tables to choose from, and the whole table surface appears to be rendered to look like the player is looking down and into an old fashioned pinball mmachine.

I have to say that this is a very cool looking project of proof of concept machine. I’ll have to dig into things to try and figure out more about it, I really think it’s a killer idea. I’ll do that if my A.D.D. doesn’t kick in before I find something new and shiny and forget all about it.
