Woohoo! Algebraic! I just discovered today that the Cartoon Network has picked up Adventure Time as a full series! This news was announced back in August of 2008 but I didn’t see it until today. Adventure Time is an amazingly awesome animated short by Pendleton Ward. You may have seen it before on YouTube. It features…well, you better just watch for yourself:
I absolutely love this short so I’m very excited to see how the series turns out. Adventure Time manages to be insanely random and totally bizarre while still maintaining an innocence and cuteness, so I’m guessing both kids and adults will enjoy it. I think the character design is fantastic and the dialogue is sheer genius. And I mean serious genius…”My hat is awesoooome!” There are so many freaking great moments (Abraham Lincoln, Ninjas, Patoot) that I can rewatch this video a ton of times. The massive talent and creativity displayed here is definitely deserving of recognition.
I didn’t notice this when I first watched the short, but since I recently saw Bender’s Game, I realized that the terrific John Di Maggio (Bender in Futurama) voices Jake in the Adventure Time short (I paused the credits to make sure). Mathematical! Let’s hope he signs on for the series as well.
If you’re like me, you can’t wait to see how this is all going to turn out. Well, you can scope out some really cool Adventure Time art on Flickr. I think it’s all fantastic…check out Marceline rocking out, this Map of the Land of Ooo or the colorful Candy Kingdom. More cool stuff can be found on this Frederator Studios blog. They have character designs, story notes, backgrounds and even a wild collection of fan art.
Rhombus! I’m going to be following this closely and waiting for the day when it’s time for…Adventure Time!
