We had a rough day yesterday, here at Always Go Right; seems our site went mad! No fears though, despite being a little shaken up by the experience, we survived through the ordeal (did you miss the fun? AGR fell down, went “boom” for a few hours).
Sadly, that means that I pretty much skipped an entire day trying to mend things instead of hunting for crazy stuff online… but that’s OK, I still had managed to come across plenty of interesting stuff earlier in the week.
So, before the walls come a crumblin’ down, here’s this week’s list of craziness lifted from my tumblog this past week:
- The Technical Hitch
- Enter Sandman … with Cats
- NBS Nightly News with Ted Philips, March 11th 1970
- YouTube Street Fighter
- “Support Our Troops” Messenger Bag
- Star Wars Dogs
The Technical Hitch
I really liked this movie short. It’s about this little guy that was brought into existence as a side effect of Edison’s first light. It’s a really well done clip, running around the 6 minute mark, but it really is worth checking out - it’s rather entertaining.
The whole story is narrated in a very Seussian-way, you are half expecting to hear Whoville mentioned as a shout-out as the story goes along, but alas… no love for the Whos in Whoville.
I found a few parts really funny, but it’s not knee-slapping hilarious - it’s just a nice short story brought to life through animation.
Check it out!
Enter Sandman … with Cats
Okay. Metallica.
Got it? Alright.
Now… think Enter Sandman, only told through pictures that are depictions of the song’s lyrics. Line by line.
Can’t fathom what the hell I am yammerin’ on about? Yeah. It’s really a toughy to describe.
So, I’ll stop trying.
Go check it out, it’s all really silly and rather humorous to think that this is what Metallica has come to be - a punchline to jokes told on web forums. Oh how the mighty have fallen.
Off to Never Never Land… indeed!
NBS Nightly News with Ted Philips, March 11th 1970
So. Watchmen. Hyped? You betcha.
And despite me trying my best to not buy into the hype, here I am loving all the little viral marketing attempts they keep flinging at me.
Well, this one’s pretty damned cool. It’s a mock news report from March 11th, 1970 on Dr. Manhattan.
They really nailed this video. The sound is just as I *cough* remember it. The hairdos all remind me of my uncle’s in their youth… and I think think they must have raided my father’s closet for their wardrobes.
But the end result? A very slick looking video of a news clip from a few decades ago. Loved it.
Dammit, I am so weak.. I am but putty in the Marketing Machine’s hands!
YouTube Street Fighter
This had me chuckling for a while. I’m too embarrassed to admit how much time I spent playing this over the course of the week… but despite all the time spent I never had a favorable outcome. I sucked at Street Fighter as a kid, and I suck at this YouTube version too!
I don’t know what I am doing wrong, but I always get smacked down. I’ll have to practice some more to hone my skills… in the mean time, give it a try. If you figure out the controls, let me know how to do some of the special moves, ‘k? Thanks!
“Support Our Troops” Messenger Bag
I was seriously thinking of ordering one of these bags… but I think I will hold off for a bit.
I’m a little concerned that this whole Empire merchandise blitz I’ve been drooling over is actually just a fund raising blitz that is being overseen by the Emperor.
Actually, my real fear is that my hard earned cash might end up in Vader’s grubby hands only to be squandered in his private chamber watching holo-chatlines, asking Oola to “Take it off, pleaaaaase?”.
Seriously. That’d ruin a lifetime of dedication and fanboying over Star Wars. I just couldn’t chance buying one.
Star Wars Dogs
Ahhhh. Photoshop. You entertain me so.
First of all. This photo? Totally real.
I love that the Empire is easing up on their frontline troops. They really are just in need of a bit of relaxation and fun. Life’s tough as a Stormtrooper. Pesky rebels give’em a hard time, making them look bad to the Big Guy… and when he finds out they’ve been thwarted? He comes down on’em hard. It’s just really hard on their psyche, making it hard for them to get the will to suit up, get out there and do their jobs.
With the new regulations in place, the troops are now allowed to ham it up a little; these guys found some Ka’rryykian hellmutts while razing a local village and decided to have a little fun. You can almost see the smiles shining through their helmets.
Secondly? I can’t believe people would try to remove troopers from such an innocent and fun picture. Can you believe that people would use Photoshop to doctor the photos and cover up the fun-side of being in the Empire?
Shame shame shame.
