Dr. Horrible: Here for the Holidays

How can you make your holiday season suitably horrible (in a great way)?  Well, stop trying to assemble your Freeze Ray and get over to Amazon to pre-order Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog on DVD!  You can probably tell we’re huge fans of Dr. Horrible here on AGR and I’ve already placed my order.  It looks like the DVD will only be available from Amazon.  And right now it’s only $9.99 (it was initially $15)…I’m not sure if the price will go up or not after release (December 19th) or even sooner.  If for some bizarre reason (Captain Hammer’s intervention?) the price goes down even more before release, don’t worry - Amazon will only charge you the final price.  Tubefilter notes that the DVD’s are being snatched up faster than a case of wonderflonium.

Even if the DVD just contained all of the episodes and nothing else, I would have ordered it anyway…but the status would not be quo.  Thankfully, it looks like there will be plenty of tasty bonus materials.  Just gallop over to this post by Joss on Whedonesque.  Sure you expect a commentary track or two on a DVD.  But only Joss could give us Commentary!  The Musical!  That’s right folks, musical commentary on a musical:

“Commentary! The Musical” is the most painstaking and exhausting piece of whimsey I have ever mistaken for a good idea. It has nearly twice as much music as Dr. Horrible itself — since you can’t really talk that much during a commentary musical or it sounds like a regular commentary.

But that’s not all…tell us more, Mr. Whedon:

Hmm…what the heck is an ELE application you ask?  

Why, it’s an application to the Evil League of Evil, of course!  The League was seeking video submissions from suitably evil candidates and the best videos will appear on the DVD.  I really like this idea…it’s wonderful to unlock the fans’ creativity and share it.  I’m looking forward to checking them out - I bet we’re in for some serious hilarity.

Things only get better.  The official fansite (a great source for any Horrible news) tells us that the DVD is indeed region-free, meaning you should be good to go on any DVD player in the world.  Coincidentally, the Death Ray I’m working on is also region-free. 

So go pre-order the DVD already!  I’m really looking forward to receiving mine.
