Okay, my last report on the New York Anime Festival is here.  Let’s get right into it.

Games

I think more video game companies should have made use of this dedicated fanbase by having various games on display.  That’s something I would like to see more of next year.

I did play a few.  One online game touted as Japan’s number one online card battle game had me hooked instantly.   It’s called Alteil and you can check out that website for more info.  I’m a sucker for card battle games so I was really into this one.  There seemed to be a nice depth of strategy and the artwork was gorgeous.  I’m definitely thinking of playing this one some more.  I also played a Naruto game (this one to be specific).  I’m not a Naruto fan but I have to say the graphics were amazing.

I played another card game for a bit (not online) called Blue Dragon.  They had decks there to play with and mats set-up so I challenged someone for a bit.  It was billed as a “roleplaying” card game because you could send cards to the XP pool and then use your experience to level up your Shadow.  It didn’t blow me away.  The art seemed pretty generic and meant for younger kids but I don’t know if younger kids will understand all the game mechanics.
