Bounty Hunter

I enjoy following games that are way under the radar, and the upcoming King’s Bounty: The Legend for the PC definitely fits that description.

As a Heroes of Might and Magic fanatic, I’m always looking for similar games.  That’s how I came across King’s Bounty, which will surely look familiar to any HOMM fan.  You have your exploration stage where you move your hero (warrior, mage or paladin) around a map in search of treasure, quests, new troops and battles.  You have your RPG elements as you level your hero up, equip him or her with items and add skills and spells.  And, of course, you have your tactical turn-based battles where your hero’s army fights it out against assorted fantasy creatures.  Your hero does not actually fight in these battles but can certainly affect the outcome with the use of magic and abilities.

If this sounds a lot like HOMM it’s not surprising.  The game was originally titled “Battle Lord” but so many people saw the resemblance to King’s Bounty (a direct precursor to the HOMM series) that they went ahead and bought the rights to the title.  If you’ve never played this type of game, it can be crazy fun and I do recommend trying one of the HOMM games.  King’s Bounty looks like a worthy contender with good graphics, tons of creatures, and plenty of ways to level your hero.
